Your Instructor: Cecilia Piergentili

Founder of The Catalytic Site

Cecilia is the founder of The Catalytic Site and holds a PhD in Protein Biochemistry from Durham University (UK). After completing postdoctoral research, she transitioned into the world of biotech startups, where she discovered a passion not just for the science — but for building the companies behind it. She has since worked across the UK and Europe as a recruitment and strategy consultant for early-stage biotech companies, particularly in drug development. Cecilia has supported startups from seed to scale-up, advising on team building, leadership hiring, and cultural alignment. Her work spanned scientific and executive roles, and she collaborated closely with venture capital investors to align talent strategy with business readiness and technical milestones. She founded The Catalytic Site to support academic researchers eager to transition into the dynamic world of biotech startups — offering the insights, tools, and guidance she wished she’d had when making the leap herself.
